Watching what I eat and walking..that's it for me. No special diet or crazy gym routines.. I think everyone has different body shapes and we are all beautiful in our own ways..especially to the people that are most important to us!! Plus, looks never last for ever..its more important being beautiful inside, that's what counts to me!!

Tabata three times a week. A healthy nutritious diet lots of veggies... I try to eliminate red meats.

I never heard of tabata, but seeing how it is basically HIIT, I am familiar with the modality.  I removed certain types of red meat, but beef is still essential to my diet.  What's the reason for your removal of red meat?  Is it cholestrol based?

I have a question for you.....AD what's a good BCAA supplement? I am currently using Isopure Aminos cranberry grape supplement. Also taking protein power Isopure low-carb Dutch chocolate.

Generally in not a supplement user, but I do recommend bsn bcaa amino acid. I recently starts a cycle on it. They have great flavors as well: green apple is by far the most popular.

Very new to this site and this appears to be an old discussion.  However, I would say 80% is diet with 20% a workout for ultimate results.  We did a 14-day challenge which was cardio/HITT workout routine for 14 days straight coupled with a sugar free diet.  When we say sugar free, its no soda, no nuts, no brocoli (yes sugar in it), no asparagus, wow, really tough.  Basically was Quinoa, grilled chicken, egg whites, certain black beans (always rinse), Oolong tea, dandelion tea, lots of water, hard boiled eggs (no yolk, too much fat), spinach, tuna, you get the point.  By day 7 it was maddening, by day 14 my husband lost 18 pounds.  He starated at 218, 6ft 1" and muscular, to 200 lbs, shredded, and hot.  I lost pounds too and continue to eat healthy and workout, but not that crazy challenge.

The other fun thing to try is the Whole-30 diet.  You would be amazed how much bad food is out there even though you think its good food.  Do the Whole-30 to learn how to eay healthy, what's in the foot you eat, and why it could have negative effects on your whole body system (not a weight loss plan, just a health plan).

Stay healthy MS ladies (and couples).

Hi. AD here. Thanks for your post.
As for your broccoli free diet, did you take in consideration of vegetable/fruit glucose is different from processed white sugar or simple carbohydrates? Generally speaking, eating food sources with fiber will essentially "balance" the natural sugar in laymen's terms. Did you feel a lack of energy being depleted of sugar? I consume a large portion of carbs a day for my macro nutrition, and because I need the energy.

Good post AD. Absolutely true.  we only did the ZERO sugar for 14 days.  Once we completed that cycle we did introduce all the glucose that comes from all the good carbs.  We are still light on fruit though, should probably increase that a little more than we do.  But really incredible on the whole-30.  We learned a lot of processed foods, sugars, and words that we could not pronouce that we used to eat!

Thanks for the tips - diet and health are huge for us as we try and chase down youth!

I'm on a modified Paleo-diet (I cheat all the time) and the "Tone It Up" exercises.

  • October 30, 2016 2:41 PM PDT

Hey Jasmine, modified diets are a great way not to go insane when only eating nutritous and often not great tasting foods.

What exaclty is "tone it up" exercises? Is that just low weight, hypertrophy training?
