I have seen a lot of pictures of women that must me braver than I am wearing sheer/ see-through bikinis at non-clothing optional/public beaches. Have any of you ever been harrassed by somebody for doing so? I've only worn mine on the lake where I could get away in the boat or at clothing optional beaches. I've always been too afraid of cops, lifeguards, or angry beachgoers to try rocking the sheer suits at a normal beach. Are my fears unfounded as long as I stay away from children?

My wife has wore her sheer ones (several suits) on our daily beach walks at Cancun. She even wore a couple of different ones in Vegas at the European pools. She does carry one of the matching wraps on the beach when encountering children near the water through. She got several compliments in August at the Encore

Dct Id it's always strange to me when so few people go nude at the clothing optional beaches when there are plenty of normal beaches everywhere else... I have gone topless and nude the one time I was at a clothing optional beach. Nobody seemed to notice the difference between the two judging by any reactions.

JimMar it's nice to hear that you haven't had any negitive reactions. Maybe I'll try doing the same one of these days.

 

My wife wore sheer tops and bottoms for the better part of a week to the "Adult" pool at a Sheraton resort in Phoenix without incident. Mostly everyone just minds their own business; except the one old guy across the pool who thought he was discretely taking pictures. Our general rule is not where the kids are. LR Couple, I live in AZ, was it the Sheraton in scottsdale or Chandler? That's great to know that people were tolerant about it there. Was she also wearing a thong bottom?

 

So far we haven't run into any issues wearing these suits in public at beaches in Mexico, Hawaii or at toptional pools in Vegas. The nude beaches back home are also understandably ok as well. That said it's about picking your moments I think. Eg, in Hawaii, I wouldn't strut around Waikiki beach with all the families and tourists, but a 20 minute drive east gets you to less travelled spots where you only see the occasional local.
Other suggestion is always pack a wrap and cover up at beach clubs when going in to use their washrooms, or a trip to the bar, etc. No need to draw attention right in front of staff where the may feel obliged to then say something...
Other than that, relax! Give it a try, have fun, you are on vacation!

Our rule of thumb is if there are kids, don't.  If there are no kids, rock the boat.  

Has anyone had any bad experiences? The places we frequent might make us the odd ones out, where we're the only couple wearing micro/sheer clothing. Whether it's in a mostly nude beach or a completely textile beach (no kids), has anyone experienced making other beach/hotel goers uncomfortable?

Dct Id, that is exactly the question I was attempting to get to the bottom of with this thread. Lori G, it sounds like that rule has worked out for you. I'll probably try to be that bold as long as there are no kids. One issue is that my husband and I both look really young. even though we are in our mid/late 20's people still think we are in high school quite often.

If anything, most people are supportive and friendly.  Golden rule type stuff and we end up "evangelizing" sensual energy.  As long as parents don't have to step into the "parenting" role of protecting their children, most people either choose to applaude my confidence or...simply walk away feeling whatever superiority they may need to in their own comfort zone or insecurity.  I get far more praise than chagrin.  If fact, I can't recall a time when anyone has ever confronted me except one on a dance floor when I was dancing and my dress rode up...I seemed to have forgotten my panties that night and another woman came up to pulled my skirt down.

I think it depends where the public beaches are and the amount of people on the beach.

Hubby and I have discovered quite the double standard on many beaches.  Hubby wears smaller fitted swimsuits and gets so many stares and such that he is uncomfortable on many beaches.  However the girls can wear as small a bikini as they want and hardly one objects.  So now we mainly stick to the lake while out in the boat, and hopefully we will get to some nice beaches that are more welcoming in the Caribbean once everyone has a chance to rebuild.  

LOL...That is true on the double standard!   The effect isn't the same is it...but then again, we've all known that for quite some time.
