Since Hurricane Irma in Sept. 2017 there are far fewer people on Orient Beach.  

Club Orient was destroyed and the owners (it is/was a condo) are fighting about the insurance money.  The French Govt. forced them to go ahead and rebuilt and they are, but slowly.  

As for the Club Orient beach, it is cleared of hurricane remains and is nice.  Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent and there is a nice day time only beach bar/restaurant.

We have been there about 20 times all for the day via cruise ships and about six times since Irma.  We will be back in early June and mid August.

We rent chairs/umbrellas on the nude side and almost all are nude on the nude side. 

There are few on the non nude side.  The cruise lines seem to NOT be running tours to Orient Beach so it seems that almost all on the non nude side are those who own/rent condos above Orient Beach or are staying elsewhere on the island.

I have counted the numbers on the non nude side and it is typically 50 to 80 and most seem to be used to seeing topless, BUT almost none of the females are topless.  I am a male and walk the full length of where people are on the non nude side wearing a tiny g-string and I get at most a tiny glance.  

As with most beaches now, there are few to very few under 35 and most of those few under 35 are wearing swim customs that cover 80 to 90% of their bodies.  There may be a few French or Quebecois females topless on the non nude side.

As for the nude side, almost all are over 35 and the few under 35 are a few females who are just a bit under 35.  One does see couples having sex in the water off of the nude side and they get little attention of that.  

Taxis to/from Orient Beach and the old Club Orient are easy to get.  IF you want to go to the old Club Med (nude beach) you must specially request of the driver to take you there for most going drive their drive rental cars.  

We went to Orient Beach the year or so before the hurricane. The non-nude portion, which is the longer beach, we lined with cheap little shack-type shops, and a few very nice euro-style beach bars.  Club Orient's beach was fully nude and we enjoyed being nude and watching the many great people there.  Sadly, a lot of lookie-loos came to gawk at both beaches.  But that did not deter us.  The hurricane wiped out the shack-style dumps as well as Club Orient.  Apparently, from a very good source, who was an officer of Club Orient, some bungalows are being rebuilt at the beach, but it is far from fully developed.  

If you want a great vacation, please contact Alain and Caroline, owners of Residence Adam et Eve, a small boutique nude mini-resort just 3/4 from Orient on the hills above it.  They built a beautiful place that could just as easily be in the South Pacific.  They are committed naturists and the warmest, coolest couple we've met in a long time.  SWW or nude is ok at all times.  We made friends for life.  

6-7 boutique rooms or suites, breakfast, and they also have a catamaran for nude cruises.  We love these people and cannot wait to go back.  We lazed about in the evening and morning nude and went to Orient Beach each day in the afternoon for the sun and drinks - a perfect vacation for us.  Cannot recommend them enough.  Go!  Hotel residence - Villa rental - Catamaran charter on Sint Maarten SXM (residence-adam-eve.com)
